A Little Bit About Us:

In October of 1963, six women got together at the home of Mrs. Betty Hawley. This would be the very first meeting of the Alpha Club. Fast forward to April 3rd, 1964, and Alpha Club became officially installed as the Alpha Omega Chapter of Beta Chi. Over the last 60 years, Alpha Omega has grown to now include 12 active members, with a combined +230 years of wonderful service. And even though our average age is just over 57 years old, we're young at heart and know how to have a good time.

We've explored many fundraisers throughout the years and are always looking for fun new ways to support the national organization chosen by Beta Chi bi-annually. Currently, Alpha Omega hosts Let's Roll, a late winter bowling event, and a Springtime golf outing as major fundraisers. We also collect books, run football boards, and sell Christmas poinsettias to raise funds as well. The women of Alpha Omega find it important to give back to our local community too, adopting a family during the holidays to help spread the Christmas spirit, and looking for other ways to get involved throughout the year.

If you're in the Niles, MI/South Bend, IN area and looking for an opportunity to make connections while giving back, consider joining the Alpha Omega sisterhood - we're a group of passionate women looking to make an impact while creating lifelong bonds that are irreplaceable. Come join us!

A Little Bit About Us:

Our chapter is a bit unusual in that it was formed by a merger of two other chapters.

Alpha Chi became a chapter in 1972, and two of our current members belonged to that chapter; Debbie Stutsman and Martha Scholfield.

Beta Alpha chapter was established in 1976.  Four of our current members were in that chapter; Gina Middleton, Jan Minsel, Karen Mohamed, and Paula Ternet. In 1994, the two smaller chapters decided to merge and become Beta Alpha Chi.

We currently have 13 sisters with membership ranging from 1 year to 50 years!  Debbie Stutsman, Beta Chi’s current National President, is our longest serving member with more than 50 years in Beta Chi.  Maggie Weaver is our newest member and joined about a year ago.

Together we have some pretty impressive membership numbers.  In addition to Debbie’s 50 years, Gina, Martha, and Paula each have more than 40 years in sorority and Karen has 39 years! Wow.  Adding all 13 of us together we represent over 300 years of “sisterhood.”

We are active in fundraising activities to support both the national charity and numerous local charities.  Our major fundraisers are Nelson’s Chicken BBQ once or twice each year, selling our homemade cheese balls and caramel puffs at Holiday Bazaars, annual yard sales, and raffles.

In addition to providing financial support to the Beta Chi national charity, twice a year we try to pick three local charities to support.  Our support goes beyond just giving money.  We also generously give in other ways like providing meals and supplies to our local Ronald McDonald House 6 times a year, filling five laundry baskets in December with supplies for the Salvation Army, and providing gifts for less fortunate children through the Samaritan’s Purse shoebox project.

We are a group of ladies that enjoy each other and love spending time working and having fun together.  I think our newest member, Maggie Weaver, expressed it very well when she said, “I now have 12 great new sisters.”

Our chapter would welcome anyone who might be looking for a fun group of friends who have a giving spirit, enjoy each other, and want to help others.

A Little Bit About Us:

Beta Delta Chapter of Beta Chi Sorority was initiated as a new chapter on March 13, 1991.  We were brought together by women from Alpha Phi chapter and Alpha Rho chapter. Most charter members of Beta Delta were daughters, granddaughters, nieces, cousins, or long time friends of other members.

We started with 24 founding sisters but quickly became 15 hard working young women . Now in 2024, we are a chapter of 17 hard working (and not quite not as young) women.  We enjoy our time together celebrating at Music on the River, selling dinner tickets, or just chatting at a meeting.

A Little Bit About Us:

1982 was a great year for us! Shonne Reber and Lynda Read from Alpha Pi were gracious enough to sponsor us as a rookie chapter. On April 17th, 1982 we became official and we have tried to maintain integrity with the faith they put in us. We have one current member that is a charter member from that year: Stacey Rodino who happens to be the daughter of Shonne Reber Durr. Our average roster size sustains around 15 members. The years of service have added up….the average number of years our members have volunteered is 20.6. We have 4 members who have stayed with Beta Gamma for over 20 years, 3 members for over 30 years, and 1 member, our charter member for over 40 years. Add that up. Yes, 90 plus years of giving to our community and to our national charity. Our remaining 7 members have combined for 82 years of service. We’ve had so much fun that we wanted to pass it on by sponsoring a new, younger Chapter in 2020 named Beta Zeta. We are so proud of them and what they have accomplished in such a short time and it has brought to mind so many great memories of our younger sorority years. How do you define dedication? The Beta Gamma Girls are a great way to start!

A Little Bit About Us:

We are a chapter of young women navigating working world, motherhood, and life in general. Our biggest fundraiser currently is our rice bag fundraiser. We make every rice bag by hand and when we schedule a day to work on them together it’s a great time talking, catching up and continuing to get to know each other. Our chapter each month either donates items or volunteers their time for an organization in the Michiana area. We enjoy this aspect because we love giving back to our community.  Beta Zeta is a wonderful group of women who have fun and support each other. We always get together during the summer and winter for a fun event. Whether it’s just us women or our families join as well.
